Brighton’s Evan Ferguson Set To Reject Man United Move

Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Evan Ferguson is reportedly set to snub transfer interest from the likes of Manchester United.

The 18-year-old has created a name for himself at the Amex Stadium under Roberto De Zerbi, with seven goals and three assists in 16 games across all events.

Ferguson scored three goals and provided two assists in four Premier League games in December and January, and he also scored three goals en route to the FA Cup semi-finals.

His achievements earned him his first two caps for the Republic of Ireland last November, and he struck his first goal for his country in Wednesday’s 3-2 friendly triumph over Latvia.

Ferguson, who signed a professional contract with the Seagulls on his 18th birthday, is still under contract until 2026, but the striker is already being linked with a move to a Champions League-chasing club.

Manchester United are reportedly planning a summer move for Ferguson, while Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be interested.

According to The Sun, Ferguson will turn down interest from the Premier League’s Big Six clubs in order to continue his development at Brighton.

Ireland face France in their latest Euro 2024 qualifier in Dublin on Thursday night, and Manchester United are reportedly sending scouts to the Aviva Stadium ahead of Ferguson’s scheduled start.

While Manchester United may offer Ferguson a higher wage and a possible path to the Champions League, the teenager believes that staying at the Amex is the best choice at this stage in his career.

In total, the Ireland international has seven goals and four assists from 20 senior games for Brighton, who are seventh in the Premier League table – level on points with Liverpool.
