Brentford Sign Raya’s Replacement In Transfer Boost To Chelsea And Tottenham Hotspur

Brentford have officially confirmed the signature of Freiburg’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken which further suggests that David Raya would leave the club in the summer.

According to Football London, Spurs and Chelsea are vying to sign the Spaniard after he made it clear he wanted to quit the team by turning down several contract offers.

Raya played a key role in Brentford’s ninth-place finish in the 2022–23 Premier League standings. Which featured a victory over league winners Manchester City on the final day.

The Bees manager, Thomas Frank has already acknowledged that Raya may go for at least £40 million after he rejected two new contract proposals.

“There is no doubt David is a case where there is one year left. And we will see what will happen,” said the Brentford boss. “We are very happy with David here. Everybody knows he is a £40million-plus goalkeeper if anyone is interested.

“There is a possibility he will maybe leave this summer for the right price. If that happens we need to be prepared like we are at left-back, right-back, striker.”

Brentford will want to receive a sizable fee before his contract expires in 2024. And his Futbol21Pro agent Jaume Munell has made their position to look for a new club very clear. As a result, an immediate departure is anticipated.

This summer, Tottenham and Chelsea are both seeking for a new goalkeeper. This is because the futures of Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Hugo Lloris at Stamford Bridge and Spurs, respectively, are in doubt.

If both London clubs decide that Raya is their top target, there might be a bidding war, which would raise Raya’s price tag even further.
