Romario recalled joining Barcelona from PSV in 1993 in search of a fresh challenge, calling the Catalan giants “the best club in the world.”

Romario Praises Guardiola and Current Barcelona Core
The former striker also revisited his experience playing under Johan Cruyff and alongside Pep Guardiola.
Romario described Guardiola as an intelligent, highly professional player who was tactically vital, even if he never imagined he would become one of football’s greatest coaches.
Romario also assessed Barcelona’s current squad, admitting it may not equal his generation or Messi’s era technically, but still praising key difference-makers.
He singled out Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha as the players capable of driving Barcelona toward major silverware, including Champions League success.
Romario saved his strongest praise for Yamal, insisting the teenager possesses the technique, maturity, and confidence needed for greatness at Barcelona, reports Barca Universal.
He added that Yamal’s goal-scoring instinct, teammates’ trust, and ability to decide matches make him one of football’s brightest talents.
