Antony Lands In UK For Manchester United Medical Ahead Of £84m Blockbuster Transfer

Antony has reportedly arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington base, With the forward set to have his medical on Monday evening ahead of his £84million blockbuster transfer.

When the deal is finalised, the former Ajax player will reunite with his former boss Erik ten Hag, who has taken over as manager of the Red Devils.

The 22-year-old Brazilian earned a gold medal with his country in the Olympics last year in Tokyo, as well as two Eredivisie titles with Ajax in the Netherlands.

Ajax had previously rejected many bids for the 22-year-old Brazilian, but finally caved after Manchester United boosted their offer to a level that Ajax considered acceptable.

Anthony had been vociferous in his desire to leave the Johan Cruyff Arena in recent days, and the young footballer couldn’t hide his delight at finally getting his wish.

Antony was spotted smiling and throwing a hand signal in the air as he walked through the Carrington complex.

The Trafford Training Centre, in the village of Carrington in Greater Manchester, has been the club’s training facility since 2000, and they added a medical centre and sports science department in 2013.

Antony is expected to finish his medical without issue, and it’s just a matter of time before he’s announced as a Red Devil. The move follows a shocking interview with the Guardian in which the Brazil international opened out about his circumstances and attempted to negotiate a more amicable exit from Ajax.

“During the window months, meetings continued and I also received a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again: I want to leave.

“Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive and with them, certainly a great offer,” Antony explained. “During the window months, meetings continued and I also received a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again: I want to leave.

“I was very happy in Amsterdam, I won titles at Ajax, made friends and built part of my career, but now I reinforce that I am ready and full of motivation to follow my story and my dreams. People need to listen to me and understand that my motivation moves me towards happiness.”

Antony’s statements came after Ajax turned down an offer in the area of £76m from Manchester United, but the 20-time English champions were not willing to back down and returned with a higher offer.

The Brazilian is set to sign a five-year contract with the option of an additional year at Old Trafford, and he might make his debut against either Leicester City or Arsenal on Thursday or Sunday, respectively.
