Antoine Semenyo has opened up on his decision to represent Ghana national football team instead of England national football team, admitting it was an easy choice despite being born in London.
The Manchester City winger is set to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Ghana and could face England in a highly anticipated group-stage clash.

Although eligible for both nations, Semenyo revealed that England never seriously pursued him, making his international allegiance straightforward.
Speaking about the decision, the 26-year-old explained that Ghana approached him early in his career and offered him the chance to play senior international football.
That opportunity proved too important to turn down, especially given his strong family ties to the country.
Family pride drives Semenyo’s choice
Semenyo also shared how his family reacted to his first call-up in 2022, revealing that his father was especially delighted he chose Ghana over England.
His relatives, who are passionate supporters of the Black Stars, celebrated the moment and have continued to back him enthusiastically, reports Mirror.
The forward’s father, a former footballer in Ghana, played alongside legendary striker Tony Yeboah, further strengthening the family’s deep connection to Ghanaian football.
Now an established international, Semenyo is focused on helping Ghana progress at the World Cup, with several family members expected to travel and support him during the tournament.
