Yaya Toure Blasts Former Agent For Associating Him With Pep Guardiola ‘African Curse’

Yaya Toure has lambasted his former agent for associating him with a “nonsense” Pep Guardiola and Manchester City ‘African curse’.

Guardiola allegedly received a curse from African Shamans for his alleged mistreatment of the Ivorian, according to imitri Seluk, a Russian agent who once represented Toure, who made the assertion that Guardiola would not be able to win another Champions League trophy in 2018.

However, Seluk recently stated that the curse had been lifted, and he now wants City to earn the treble as well. Toure was enraged by Seluk’s comments, dismissing them as “nonsense and lazy” while adding that the the spread of such stereotypes is “harmful.”

Toure wrote on Twitter: “My former agent is being quoted by the media about a ‘curse’. Please don’t associate me with this nonsense and lazy stereotypes about African curses!?

“Media… move on please. This man does not represent me in any way. Amplifying these stereotypes is harmful.”

Guardiola is yet to add a third prize to his outstanding trophy collection since winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011.

In the 2020/21 season, City lost in the final to fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea, while Real Madrid knocked them out in dramatic style last season, blowing a 4-2 lead on aggregate in the dying stages of the semi-final second leg.
