Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has reportedly aimed a subtle dig at Atletico Madrid after he said Joao Felix is playing in a position where he ‘can enhance his talent’.
Felix joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico on transfer deadline day. And he has since become a big hit there. In six games for the Catalan giants, the Portuguese attacker has already tallied three goals and two assists, impressing Xavi greatly.
The Spaniard lavished plaudits on the 23-year-old while implicitly criticizing Diego Simeone, his former Atletico Madrid manager.
Felix, according to Xavi, is now playing in a role that will allow him to “enhance” his effect in the final third.
According to Goal, Xavi said while speaking to the reporters: “Joao Félix? The summary is that he is happy, very happy, he benefits from a position where he can enhance his talent.
“He looks out for the team, and all his talent comes out. He is supportive and generous and that is why things are working out for him.”
Felix joined Chelsea on a six-month loan after leaving Atletico in January 2023. But the Blues ended in the bottom half of the Premier League and he managed just four goals in 20 games.

Simeone made it obvious that Felix wasn’t in his plans when he returned to Atletico. The forward therefore lobbied for a transfer to Barca, who signed him for the entire 2023–24 season.
The former Benfica star is most likely going to play in Barcelona’s upcoming encounter, which is on Wednesday against Porto in the Champions League.
