Wolves Issue Official Statement After Two Premier League Players Arrested Over Rape Allegation

Two Premier League football players have been arrested in relation to an alleged rape; Wolves has refuted reports that any of their players are among them.

After speaking with the police over the purported event, two players, both 19 years old, were set free on bond.

The two are members of the same team, which did not respond to inquiries about the claims made in the first story.

According to a police spokesperson, “Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape.”

“A 19-year-old guy was taken into custody on charges of assault and encouraging sexual assault. On suspicion of rape, a second 19-year-old guy was taken into custody.

Since then, both guys have been freed on police bail.

In a response, Wolves refuted rumors circulating widely online that its players were part of the purported rape investigation.

According to the statement, two people who are allegedly the subject of a police investigation have become the subject of inappropriate online conjecture as a result of a newspaper item that was published yesterday.

“Whilst we would not typically comment on ongoing police matters, in order to protect the welfare of our young players, we feel it is necessary to confirm that the allegations to not relate to anyone at Wolves.”

According to The Sun, the two players at the center of the altercation have received club suspensions.

According to the same magazine, the accused victim phoned the police hours after the alleged rape and made a formal complaint. The alleged rape is believed to have occurred on Friday night.

In 2022, the Premier League made sexual consent training mandatory for both staff and players.

Lessons on consent and harassment were included in the workshops.
