West Brom and Sunderland stunned as Adebayor demands £115k-a-week

Emmanuel Adebayor is demanding an incredible £115,000-a-week salary package to return to sign for a club.

The 32-year-old is a free agent but has stunned interested clubs this summer by asking for a £6m-a-year deal made up of a £75,000 weekly salary and £2m signing-on fee.

Adebayor has been the subject of enquiries from a host of Premier League and Championship clubs including Sunderland, Fulham and West Brom.

But the former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker is refusing to return to playing until someone matches his wage expectations.

Adebayor is still allowed to sign for a club outside the transfer window as he is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace in the summer following an unsuccessful six-month contract.

The Togolese forward is now hoping for a huge offer from the Chinese Super League having turned down similar offers in January.

Clubs from the Middle East and Turkey have also expressed an interest in Adebayor, who earned £170,000-a-week during his spells at Manchester City and Tottenham and has been a divisive figure throughout his career.

Adebayor left Tottenham last year after the club agreed to pay out the final year of his contract because manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted him away from the club’s training ground.

Adebayor has been mainly based in his home in Ghana since leaving Palace and despite being a free agent, he featured for Togo in their 5-0 victory against Djibouti on Sunday.
