Wenger to be given £200m transfer budget by Arsenal

Arsenal will give Arsene Wenger a £200 million budget in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror claims that despite the Gunners’ alarming slump and the threat of no Champions League football next season, the 67-year-old is poised to sign a new two-year contract.

And Wenger will be backed even further by being handed a large transfer kitty this summer.

With Olivier Giroud’s future in doubt, Wenger is in the market for a new striker and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette will be targeted once again.

The Gunners failed with a £29.4 million offer for the France international last July but will reignite their interest this
summer.

Arsenal have also joined Tottenham and Manchester City in the race for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

Spurs were linked with a £25m move for the winger in the January transfer window and have retained their interest ahead of the summer.

Arsenal are also ready to rival Chelsea for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele and are also keen on the 20-year-old’s team-mate Kieran Tierney, who will challenge for a place at left-back.

Wenger is also looking to strengthen his options in goal, especially as David Ospina is angling for a move away at the end of the season.

Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford and Stoke City’s Jack Butland are both on Arsenal’s radar.
