Vinicius Jr Inherits Famous Real Madrid Shirt After Eden Hazard’s Exit

Following in the traditions of Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo, Vinicius Junior is set to wear the No. 7 jersey at Real Madrid.

The legendary shirt at Santiago Bernabeu is now up for grabs following the departure of Eden Hazard, after he was released as a free agent. Since 2019–20, he had kept the No. 7 shirt in Real Madrid’s squad.

Vinicius has watched his worth increase as Hazard struggled in the Spanish capital.

The Brazil international, who switched to Real from Flamengo in 2018, has emerged as one of the world’s most promising players.

He has already made 225 appearances and scored 59 goals for the Blancos at the age of just 22, in addition to the two La Liga titles and Champions League trophy he has helped win.

Vinicius will be dropping the No.20 which he previously wore, and is expected to go to Fran Garcia following his return to the Bernabeu from Rayo Vallecano.

Meanwhile, fellow Brazilian Rodrygo has also seen an upgrade from number 21 to the team’s 11.

Vinicius had a difficult 2022–2023 on the personal front as he was frequently the target of cruel racial chants.

He won’t be fleeing his tormentors; however, as he is anticipated to sign a new deal this summer that will keep him in Madrid until 2027.
