Villas-Boas blasts FIFA Coach of the Year nomination for Leeds boss Bielsa

Olympique Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas has slammed the nomination of Marcelo Bielsa for FIFA’s The Best Coach of the Year award.

Leeds boss Bielsa has made the shortlist ahead of Thomas Tuchel, who led PSG to the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League final.

Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager AVB snapped: “It seems to me a scandal that Tuchel is not among the five nominees. FIFA is sleeping … Bielsa? Bielsa should be recognised, but he is not among the top five coaches in the world of 2020.

“Bielsa only won one championship, while Thomas Tuchel won four titles and reached the final of the Champions League.”

In addition to Bielsa, Hans-Dieter Flick (Bayern Munich), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Julen Lopetegui (Seville) and Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid) are also candidates to win The Best.
