Red Bull’s Max Verstappen passed Lewis Hamilton on two occasions as he won the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday. The 22-year-old took the chequered flag for the third time this year, breezing home, with all the drama happening behind him. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton collided with Red Bull’s Alexander Albon but still finished third as Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly did enough to hold onto second, his first podium finish. Ferrari were set to pick up points, but they saw both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc retire after crashing into each other with a few laps remaining. That error could have far-reaching consequences, while Hamilton may face a penalty for his crash with Albon. The weekend belonged to Red Bull after they topped the timesheets in qualifying and Verstappen was delighted with the performance of his RB15, while also praising his team after the race. He told BBC F1: “Lewis was very quick so I had to keep pushing and all the time. “He pitted early, so we had to be on top of our pitstops we had a good move on him. I could control the race with the tyres I had it was unbelievable it was a lot of fun out there and great to win the race.”
