UCL Final: Man City Defeat Inter Milan, Complete Historic Treble

In what was a keenly contested, aggressive and seismic showdown, Manchester City defeated Inter Milan to win the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League crown.

Pep Guardiola’s men triumphed over their Italian counterparts to win Europe’s elite competition for the first time in their history.

The Nerazzurri were the better side in the first 45 minutes. Though, neither side really creates clear-cut chances. But Inter proved to be the better side with their positional play and high press against the Cityzens.

City’s talisman, Kevin De Bruyne was substituted early in the first half as he sustained injury during the match. He was replaced by Phil Foden.

The tempo began to increase for City in the second half and the pressure eventually paid off, eight minutes after the hour mark. Rodrigo Hernandez benefited from a poor clearance from the Inter defense and curled a powerful shot into the bottom right corner to give City the lead in the 68th minute.

Inter Milan manager, Simeone Inzaghi rang the changes after the goal. And it nearly paid off as his side created loads of chances. Some of which fell to Federico Dimarco and Romelu Lukaku late on in the game.
