Tottenham’s Ben Davies Out For Six Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has reportedly been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Wales international was one of four players withdrawn before halftime in last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Southampton.

Richarlison, Jan Bednarek, and Armel Bella-Kotchap were also injured in the game, which forced Wales to cancel their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia and Latvia.

Tottenham have not yet given an official update on the 29-year-old’s injury,  but the Lilywhites will likely have to cope without the defensive stalwart until the end of the season, which will be a big blow to their Champions League chances.

According to football.london, Davies will be out for at least four weeks and maybe up to six weeks due to a hamstring injury, restricting Antonio Conte’s options on the left.

Under Conte, Davies has been a regular in the Tottenham XI, playing on the left of a back three or as a left-wing back for the Lilywhites.

In 25 Premier League games this season, the former Swansea City man has two goals and two assists, and he was rewarded with a new contract until 2025 last summer.

Davies joins a long list of Tottenham players out injured, with fellow left-wing back Ryan Sessegnon also out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

There is optimism that Sessegnon, who has struggled with fitness at Tottenham, will be able to return quickly after the international break, however Emerson Royal may potentially cover for Ivan Perisic on the left.

If Davies is out for the full six weeks, the defender will miss a major spell of fixtures in April, as Spurs face top-four rivals Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.
