Tottenham To Back Antonio Conte In January Transfer Window

Tottenham Hotspur will provide coach Antonio Conte with financial support in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Richarlison, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, and Yves Bissouma all joined on permanent agreements in the The 53-year-old’s first summer window at the club.

Clement Lenglet was also signed on loan from Barcelona for the season, while Destiny Udogie has joined permanently from Udinese, where he is now on loan.

Conte has stated that his team needs a few more transfer windows to compete for the Premier League crown, and he will receive financial support in January, according to the Evening Standard.

However, the report also states that the Italian is now pleased with the size of his squad and has informed the powers that be, so it remains to be seen what January transfers, if any, will be completed.

Instead, Tottenham’s winter business might be concentrated on outgoings, with Spence, Bryan Gil, Pape Sarr, and Japhet Tanganga all free to go.

Tanganga and Gil were both expected to depart the club during the summer but remained on the books as Tottenham failed to find suitable replacements.

The two have only played 34 minutes this season and could be on the move in January, since Tottenham must sell before they can purchase in the winter.

Meanwhile, clubs in Italy are reportedly keeping eyes on former Metz midfielder Sarr, while Spence is hopeful of forcing his way into Conte’s plans.

Tottenham failed to entice Alessandro Bastoni away from Inter Milan over the summer, but the report indicates that the Lilywhites are still interested in the Italian.

Conte’s contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires in the summer of 2023, although the club is expected to begin contract discussions with the Italian next month.
