Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Middlesbrough fullback Djed Spence. Spence is the sixth player that Spurs have brought in this summer as they get ready to compete in the Champions League once more.

Why Did Tottenham Sign Spence?
Spence spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he played a key role in the club’s return to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
The 21-year-old played 50 times across all leagues for Steve Cooper’s team, and his performances against Arsenal and Leicester City during Forest’s run to the FA Cup quarterfinals stood out in particular.

He is an attack-minded full-back who will be expected to offer a forwards drive from right-wing-back for Conte’s side in his prefered 3-4-3 system.
Are Tottenham On Top In The Transfer Market?
Tottenham have been among the busiest Premier League teams during the summer transfer window as Conte aims to build on his team’s fourth-place result from the previous season and get his team ready for its Champions League comeback.
Spence is the sixth senior signing of the off-season, and he strengthens the defensive third of the field with Clement Lenglet, who is on loan from Barcelona.
Spurs spent an initial £25 million ($30 million) for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, while Ivan Perisic joined on a free transfer from Inter.
The club’s largest summer splurge, though, was the £50 million ($61 million) they paid for Everton forwards Richarlison, who added to what was already a formidable attacking outfit.
