Toney Makes Man United Star Prediction Following Impressive First England Start

Brentford striker, Ivan Toney has predicted Manchester United teenage star, Kobbie Mainoo to reach the top after making his first start for England in their 2-2 draw against Belgium on Tuesday night.

The 18-year-old won the man of the match award following his jaw-dropping performance against the Red Devils of Belgium.

At Wembley, Gareth Southgate gave the United midfielder his second cap and included him in the starting lineup for the first time.

The youngster took full advantage of the chance, showcasing his skills in the middle of the park and establishing himself as a contender for a spot in the squad and possibly even the starting lineup for this summer’s Euro 2024.

After Mainoo’s outstanding build-up play, Toney scored England’s first goal from the penalty spot, leaving the Brentford striker thoroughly pleased.

The 28-year-old believes Mainoo is about to become a member of the game’s elite. And he finds it hard to believe that he is only 18 years old.

“I think at 18 I was probably playing Xbox,” Toney told Sky Sports as reported by The Metro. “But he’s out here being a man and playing for England.

“He carries himself very well, he glides with the ball and there’s a lot more to come from him, I’m sure he’ll go right to the top.”

In the 2-2 draw, which saw Jude Bellingham score an injury-time equalizer after Youri Tielemans twice put Belgium ahead following the Toney penalty, Mainoo was named Man of the Match.
