Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger, Moussa Diaby who is a subject of interest from Premier League rivals, Newcastle United and Arsenal.
The French international is regarded as one of the top offensive players in the Bundesliga. If the Villains were successful in completing a deal, it would be a tremendous victory.
Since taking over as manager of Aston Villa in October of last year, Unai Emery has had a truly extraordinary impact on the club.
They are pushing to sign Diaby. Two of their Premier League rivals will take a hit if they prevail in the race.
The Daily Mail reports that Aston Villa has ‘made checks’ on Diaby, who appears likely to depart Leverkusen this summer.
There is a good probability the Villains will land the 24-year-old because he is apparently eager to move to the Premier League.
In all competitions since joining Leverkusen in 2019, Diaby has made 172 appearances. He has recorded 49 goals and 48 assists over this time. He now contributes an incredible 0.56 goals on average per game.
Why Is Aston Villa Favorites To Sign Diaby?
As previously noted, Newcastle and Arsenal have expressed interest in signing the winger as a result of his performances.
The Magpies appear to be prioritizing a deal for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes. So if they land the England international, they might withdraw from the race.

While concentrating on deals for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber which are expected to be announced, Arsenal might yet make a move for Diaby.
This summer, Aston Villa will have to fork out some significant funds to sign Diaby. Leverkusen have placed a £50 million price tag on Diaby. So acquiring the Frenchman this summer would probably require a club record deal.
