Egyptian police have recovered the Africa Cup of Nations runner-up medal belonging to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, as well as other precious items stolen from his home.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the burglary at Salah’s residence in Cairo, Egypt. According to the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, one of those arrested was a former security guard at the residential complex.

The police found three pairs of Adidas football boots in addition to expensive apparel that were stolen along with Salah’s AFCON runners-up medal. Salah received word that the things had been recovered hours before Liverpool’s Wednesday night match against Real Madrid.

One source told Al-Ahram after the incident: “The surrounding surveillance cameras are being unloaded, and the security personnel in charge of securing the place are being interrogated.
