Thierry Henry Names Two Teams Arsenal Will Want To Avoid In Champions League Quarter-Final Draw

Before Arsenal’s quarterfinal draw on Friday, Thierry Henry has identified Manchester City and Real Madrid as the two favorites in the Champions League.

After defeating Porto on penalties on Tuesday night, Mikel Arteta’s team advanced to the round of eight in the Champions League.

In the Champions League draw on Friday, City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Paris Saint-Germain will be drawn alongside Arsenal.

Henry thinks that both City and Madrid would be the hardest opponents for Arsenal to face at this point in the competition. There are no easy sides to play.

“I’ve been in both situations as a player where sometimes people didn’t want to play us with Arsenal and we didn’t go really far, and we had a team when we went to the final I don’t think was our best team at Arsenal,” Henry said on CBS Sports in response to a question about whether he thinks Dortmund is a “weaker” side in the Champions League quarterfinal draw.

We played Villarreal, who were a decent team at the time, and after that they said, “It’s good to play Arsenal,” so obviously we couldn’t win the final. I remember when we drew Real Madrid, everyone laughed because they said, “Arsenal are the team you want.”

‘I’m just saying, you can never disrespect anyone in Europe.

‘There are two teams there who can be cocky – it’s Real Madrid and Man City, that’s about it. The others, you just take who you can play.

‘Man City are the team to beat still, for me. I know Pep, it’s not how he’s going to take it, I was just putting it out there.
