32-Year-Old Player Will Depart Newcastle United This Summer

This summer, Newcastle United will undergo a significant rebuild, which may force some long-serving players to leave St. James’ Park.

The Magpies have a number of players whose contracts are up at the end of the season, and there have been rumors that Eddie Howe will be making decisions in the next few weeks regarding who stays and who goes.

Emil Krafth has already decided to stay longer on Tyneside, but it is still unclear what will happen to club captain Jamaal Lascelles.

Geordie Foot Boys notes Paul Dummett is another player whose contract with Newcastle United expires this summer; an update on the Geordie defender’s potential future is now available.

Newcastle United’s Paul Dummett Is Leaving

Journalist Joel Bland on X claims that Paul Dummett will be departing Newcastle United this summer upon the expiration of his contract.

He claims that the 32-year-old’s time on Tyneside is coming to an end and that the team has no intention of extending its contract to keep him at St. James’ Park.

Dummett Has Represented Newcastle In More Than 200 Games

Although Dummett extended his contract at the start of the season, he hasn’t played much since signing the contract.

This season, the academy graduate has made four appearances, including two starts in the Carabao Cup. In that competition, he played well at center back, and his lone Premier League appearance occurred in November during the 4-1 victory over Chelsea as a substitute.

Dummett made his senior debut in January 2013 and has been a Newcastle United player his entire career. He has since made more than 200 appearances for the team he played for in his youth, tallying four goals.

Under Eddie Howe, the Wales international, who played left back for the bulk of his Toon career, switched to center back. He hasn’t played much at St. James’ Park, though, since Howe took over as manager.

However, Dummett has always been appreciated for his work behind the scenes, so it will be interesting to see what kind of sendoff he gets if this is indeed the end of his career at Newcastle United.
