Terry takes time out from Chelsea’s title run to hang out with rapper Drake

John Terry might not have had a playing role in Chelsea 3-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday — but it did mean he had the best seats in the house for two of the events of the weekend in London.

Terry, 36, followed his spot on the bench at Stamford Bridge with a prime seat at the O2 Arena, watching Drake’s show at the Greenwich venue before meeting the rapper afterwards.

Posing in an image with wife Toni, Terry wrote: ‘Good to see you @champagnepapi. Unbelievable show tonight @toniterry26. What a pic this is.’

Sunday evening’s gig was part of an eight-night stint for Drake in London on his ‘Boy Meets World’ tour – with Terry taking in the show in a gap in his Chelsea schedule.

The captain of the Premier League leaders has played a bit-part role of late but continues to be a key member of Antonio Conte’s squad.

He was an unused substitute in the win over Arsenal before taking part in a post-match training session for those on the bench at Stamford Bridge.

Manager Conte, despite rarely using Terry in his league campaign, heaped praise on the Chelsea skipper on Saturday while also hailing his stand-in with the armband, Gary Cahill.

‘I want to underline that our captain is John Terry,’ Conte said. ‘He’s our captain and he’s doing the job very well and helping me a lot. Not only me but also his team-mates.

‘His attitude and behaviour is fantastic. ‘Gary is vice-captain and he’s captain on the pitch when John doesn’t play.

‘I think he’s playing very well and he’s showing his quality. He’s a really good defender and I’m happy for him.’
