Sven-Goran Eriksson Is Granted His Dying Wish To Manage Liverpool

Next month, Sven-Goran Eriksson will finally be able to fulfill his lifelong dream of coaching a Liverpool team from the sidelines at Anfield.

The LFC Foundation organizes an annual charity match between LFC Legends and Ajax Legends, and ex-England manager Eriksson will be a member of the managing team.

The game, scheduled for March 23 at Anfield, will see Eriksson working alongside Liverpool icons such as Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge.Reported By Telegram.

last month, Swedish-born Eriksson made public his diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer, for which there may not be much more than a year to live.

After receiving the heartbreaking news, he said in an interview that he had always wanted to coach his beloved Liverpool team—a desire that is now about to come true.

The following was said in a formal statement: “Liverpool FC is delighted to reveal that Sven-Goran Eriksson will join the LFC Legends management staff for the match on March 23 at Anfield versus Ajax Legends.

“The ex-England manager will share the dugout with a host of LFC legends, including Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge, for the annual LFC Foundation charity match. Everyone associated with the club and the LFC Foundation eagerly anticipates welcoming Sven and his family to Anfield for this wonderful fundraising event.”

The Liverpool playing squad includes Jerzy Dudek, the goalkeeper who became a hero in Istanbul, and fellow goalkeeper Sander Westerveld. Defenders Martin Skrtel, Fabio Aurelio and Gregory Vignal are also confirmed to play, along with Djibril Cisse. Ryan Babel, a former forward for both Reds and Ajax, will play for both teams during the game.
