Suarez in hot water again after yelling ‘Your mother’s c***’ at linesman

Luis Suarez has become embroiled in a fresh controversy after appearing to yell ‘your mother’s c***, you clown’ at a linesman during Barcelona’s recent Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Uruguayan striker was angered at a decision going against his side during the narrow 2-1 win at Borrusia-Park on Wednesday.

In footage shown on Spanish television show El Chiringuito, Suarez mockingly applauds the official for awarding a thrown-in to Gladbach in the first-half of the Group C game in Germany, before laying into the Slovenian assistant in Spanish.

Images show referee Damir Skomina approaching Barcelona’s No 9 to reprimand him over his unacceptable outburst, but no further action was taken.

Suarez’s frustrations boiled over with his side trailing to Thorgan Hazard’s strike, but the Catalans eventually managed to regain their cool to claim all three points thanks to second-half goals from Arda Turan and Gerard Pique.

The incident comes at a time when FIFA are working to clamp down on the level of abuse that officials receive, with former Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez dismissed for a similar show of dissent in a recent Boca Juniors game.

Suarez has had several brushes with the laws of the game throughout his career, with the foul-mouthed tirade adding to his list of public misdemeanours.

The 29-year-old notoriously served a worldwide ban from all football-related activities totalling four months after being found guilty of biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during a group match at the 2014 World Cup.

The former Liverpool striker already had a reputation for courting controversy after he racially abused Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra in October 2011 – leading to an eight-match ban.

Another 10-match ban was handed out by the FA after another biting incident with Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in April 2013.
