Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has reportedly claimed that Lamine Yamal will be in “perfect shape” for the 2026 World Cup.
The gaffer also reckons he will be prepared for their opening match on June 15 against Cape Verde.
Yamal’s hamstring injury kept him out of the season, and there have been rumours that he won’t play in Spain’s first group matches this summer.
De La Fuente Hopeful Yamal Will Be Ready
De la Fuente provided an update on him after the youngster made the World Cup squad and is in positive spirits.
“First of all, we believe he’ll arrive in good condition. We’re in constant communication with the clubs, who keep us updated on his progress daily,” he told Mundo Deportivo as quoted by Barca Blaugranes.
“We know he’ll be in perfect shape, and I’d even venture to say he’ll be ready for the first match, but we’ll continue to monitor his progress.”
The manager of Spain also discussed Yamal’s preparation for his first-ever World Cup debut.

“He simply needs to be aware of what he has in his hands, his feet, and his heart. And show the world the kind of footballer he is.
“He needs to remain consistent, keep improving, keep working harder and taking better care of himself, even though he already does.
“But the demands of the highest level will require even more from him, and he’s ready to do it.
“We’ll give him the space he needs, the information he requires, and we’ll support him through all the challenges ahead.”
