Ronaldo Hits Back At Former Teammate Wayne Rooney’s Comments

Following a warning from his former teammate not to cause an “unwanted distraction” at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back at ex-teammate, Wayne Rooney.

In a shocking interview with Piers Morgan, the Portuguese superstar attacked United and manager Erik ten Hag. He also addressed Rooney’s recent comments from last week’s talkSPORT interview.

Rooney joined the talkSPORT Breakfast on Friday and offered his verdict on his old friend, saying Ronaldo’s behaviour this season has been “unacceptable”.

He told him to “keep his head down and be ready to play”, saying “if he does that, he will be an asset – if he doesn’t, it will become an unwanted distraction”.

What Did Ronaldo Say About Rooney?

Ronaldo came out all guns blazing in his interview with friend and TalkTV host Morgan. However, in doing so, he may have just proven Rooney right.

The forward responded to the ex-England captain’s comments during the interview, which will be aired in full this week, and suggested Rooney might be jealous of his career… and his looks.

“I don’t know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level,” Ronaldo told Morgan.

“I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true…”
