REVEALED: Ronaldo wanted PSG switch before the pandemic with dreams of playing with Neymar and Mbappe’

Cristiano Ronaldo was considering a stunning move to Paris Saint-Germain before the coronavirus lockdown hit, according to reports in France.

The 35-year-old Portugal star joined Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018 and has gone on to win two consecutive Serie A titles.

But according to France Football, Ronaldo was underwhelmed by Juventus’ performances and was therefore weighing up his options.

The report claims had his heart set on a move to PSG because he dreamed of playing alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, having maintained a close bond with the Brazilian star while also reportedly ‘adoring’ the France World Cup winner.

Paris also holds a special place in Ronaldo’s heart as it is the city where he won the European Championships with Portugal in 2016.

The report claims his frustrations allegedly came to the boil in October last year following a Champions League tie against Lokomotiv Moscow which Juventus had won 2-1.

Ronaldo did not score or assist in a below-par performance from the hosts, and he reportedly realised Turin did not have the same attraction as Madrid or the Premier League.

He therefore was ready to picture himself away from the Allianz Stadium and form one of the deadliest attacks in world football with French side PSG, with one source even claiming the move was ‘very probable’.

However, the Covid-19 pandemic destroyed any chance of a potential move, and the wider financial implications of the virus suggests any move is now highly unlikely.

But the doom and gloom has since lifted around Maurizio Sarri’s side after they went on to secure a ninth consecutive Serie A title last month.

On an individual basis, he has racked up an impressive 63 goals in just 88 appearances but did lose out on the Golden Boot to Lazio forward Ciro Immobile.
