REPORT: Manchester United lower Pogba asking price to just £53m

Paul Pogba could be set for a summer move to Real Madrid after Manchester United reportedly dropped their asking price to as little as £53million (€60m).

The Frenchman has come under heavy questioning this season, and has recently lost his place in the United starting XI despite the team’s struggles on the pitch.

Now, United are ready to move the midfielder on and will accept a vastly reduced fee for the star, according to Spanish publication AS.

The Madrid-based publication carry reports based on information from FourFourTwo, who claim United will sell Pogba this summer despite the player being contracted until 2022.

Madrid have been linked with Pogba for some time, with the player heavily tipped to make a move to the Bernabeu prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pogba has struggled this season so far, with United having made one of their worst ever starts to a football season.

At present the World Cup winner currently finds himself on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s bench, with Bruno Fernandes and summer signing Donny van de Beek preferred.

Since, links with the Spanish giants have diminished somewhat, though it is understood that manager Zinedine Zidane remains a huge admirer.

Zidane is said to have asked the Madrid board for both Eden Hazard and Pogba upon his return to the dug-out, and has already had half of these wishes granted.

Madrid however have a long list of transfer targets, with the club understood to be preparing all energy and resources into signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain next summer.
