REPORT: Griezmann keen to join Man United with or without Champions League football

Antoine Griezmann has decided Champions League football is not a requirement for him to join Manchester United in the summer, according to reports.

The Atletico Madrid attacker was thought to be waiting to see if United qualified for Europe before making a decision, but a deal worth £60 million seems to have changed his mind.

United are ready to offer Griezmann £300,000-a-week that would add up to a £15 million-a-year salary for the French international.

The Mirror claim Griezmann is desperate to join the Red Devils and link up with international team-mate Paul Pogba at Old Trafford.

Pogba and Griezmann are close friends and believe they could form a lethal club partnership at United under Jose Mourinho’s guidance.

United are hopeful they can negotiate a transfer fee lower than the reported £85.5 million release clause.

However, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is prepared to pay the release clause in full to secure their priority target.

Griezmann has already picked his shirt number at United with the attacker targeting the No.7 shirt.

Wayne Rooney is expected to be moved on in the meantime as Mourinho sees Griezmann as his main man in United’s future.
