Rashford hails Rooney’s “amazing” work for the winning goal at Hull

Marcus Rashford has hailed the hard work of Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney after the captain set up his winner over Hull City at the KC stadium.

United looked to be heading for their first stalemate of the season, but the teenager’s goal two minutes into injury time was enough to make it three wins out of three for Jose Mourinho as the team heads into the international break.

It was the 18-year-old’s first game of the season but he reminded manager Jose Mourinho and the fans what he is capable of with the late goal to give United all three points.

Rashford was not in the England squad named by new national team manager Sam Allardyce names on Sunday afternoon.

Rashford told MUTV: “As I seen it developing, it was just an amazing run. I had to get myself in the box, so all his hard work paid off.”

Allardyce has approved him returning to the Under-21s where he will work under Gareth Southgate who led the youngsters to their fifth Toulon tournament this summer.

Both Mourinho and Allardyce feel the striker needs to play more league minutes in order for him to be considered for a place in the senior England squad.

The Under-21’s start their European Championships qualification against Norway on September 6th at Colchester’s Community stadium.
