Ranieri declares N’golo Kante free to join Juventus or Real Madrid

N’Golo Kanté has attracted the attention of several top clubs with his performances this season, and manager Claudio Ranieri does not appear willing to stand in his way if he wants a move

Having helped Leicester City to top spot in the Premier League, it appears N’Golo Kanté could be set for a quick exit from the Foxes.

The deceptively small Frenchman has been superb since arriving for €8 million from Ligue 1 outfit Caen, playing both with seemingly unlimited energy and a terrific sense of position.

It comes as no surprise that a host of Europe’s top clubs – including Juventus – have Kanté on their radar, and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has been forced to admit that it will be difficult to retain his midfielder’s services beyond the summer transfer window.

“I think he should stay here, he’s doing very well,” the 64-year-old told reporters. “But if big teams arrive that will give us a lot of money, maybe we can think about it if he’s not happy here and wants to go. I don’t want sad people here – I want my players to be happy.”

When asked if Kanté was either unhappy at Leicester or agitating for a transfer, Ranieri replied: “No, he’s always smiling. There is a chance he could leave but our focus is on the pitch for the last seven matches. After that [there] is another season.”

Kanté himself has refused to rule out leaving Leicester this summer.

“I will fight for Leicester this season and we’ll see what happens,” he stated. “At this time I am focused on Leicester. We have to finish the season well but I don’t mind [hearing about interest] from other clubs.”

Leicester face Southampton at the King Power Stadium this weekend as they continue their bid to become champions of England.
