PSG Set For Major Boost Ahead Of Liverpool Champions League Showdown

When PSG visits Anfield on Tuesday night, the Reds will be looking to seal the latest European miracle in club history. Liverpool is trailing 2-0 on aggregate following a thrashing in Paris the previous week.

PSG are the current Champions League champions and are widely regarded as the continent’s greatest team. Given Liverpool’s flaws this season, a stunning effort will be required to turn the tie around.

Luis Enrique’s team’s greatest strength is its offensive. Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored for PSG in the first leg, but Ousmane Dembele, winner of the Ballon d’Or last year, missed a good opportunity.

Bradley Barcola’s return to Merseyside will also help the Parisians in their second match against Liverpool. The winger did practice before of their first game against Liverpool, despite being plagued by ankle ligament problems. PSG did not risk Barcola, however, and gave him an extra week to prepare. As a result, the France international will go with Enrique and most likely sit on the bench, according to L’Équipe. Barcola has 12 goals and six helpers in 38 games this season.

PSG have received an additional boost from the suspension of their match against Ligue 1 championship rivals RC Lens over the weekend. Liverpool, meanwhile, won 2-0 over Fulham in the Premier League.

However, the Reds’ Curtis Jones suffered a groin injury and is unlikely to play against PSG. “He felt a little bit in his groin,” said head coach Arne Slot. “It wasn’t in the moment; he had already sensed it for a few minutes. Let’s hope for the best, but I’d be amazed if a player comes off and is available on Tuesday. Welcome to the season. Every time a win or something positive happens, there is an injury that follows.”
