PSG Dismiss Galtier, Set To Appoint Spanish Manager

Paris Saint-Germain have sacked manager Christophe Galtier ahead of appointing Luis Enrique as his successor.

The former manager of Saint-Etienne, Lille, and Nice took over from Mauricio Pochettino last year. And led PSG to Ligue 1 and the Trophee des Champions success.

Galtier managed to oversee his side’s elimination from the Champions League by Bayern Munich in the round of 16. As he was unable to break PSG’s UCL curse as his team only finished one point ahead of Lens in Ligue 1.

According to Sports Mole, his aides, Thierry Oleksiak and Joao Sacramento have also left. PSG said in a statement: “At the end of the 2022-2023 financial year, Paris Saint-Germain and Christophe Galtier have decided to end their first-team coaching contract.

“The Club would like to pay tribute to his professionalism and commitment, which enabled the Rouge & Bleu to win a historic eleventh French Championship title as well as a Champions Trophy.

A leaked email supposedly showing Galtier moaning about the proportion of black and Muslim players in his team damaged the 56-year-old’s tenure with accusations of racism from his time as Nice’s manager.

Galtier leaves PSG after 50 matches as manager with a record of 34 victories, six draws, and 10 losses.
