PSG demand Martial as Manchester United make move for Verratti

Paris Saint-Germain have told Manchester United to include Anthony Martial in any deal for Marco Verratti, according to reports.

United are now exploring alternative midfield options to Nemanja Matic having failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea, while a deal with Tottenham for Eric Dier is proving just as difficult to complete.

The Sunday Mirror claims Jose Mourinho has been a long-term admirer of the Italy international, while United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has spoken to the midfielder’s new agent, Mino Raiola, about a potential deal this week.

But PSG have informed United that they would only entertain an offer which included Martial moving to the French capital in return.

United do not want to let the 21-year-old to leave and are continuing talks with PSG to find a solution.

Verratti is also wanted by Barcelona and Camp Nou is the 24-year-old’s preferred destination.

Barca have made the midfielder their top priority for the summer window but have been unable to convince PSG to sell, though that may change if they push through their €222 million (£197m) move for Neymar.

Verratti, who hired Raiola as his new agent this week, still has four years remaining on his current contract with PSG.
