Premier League focus for Wolves – Coady

Captain Conor Coady insists performing in the Premier League is still the main focus for Wolves this season. Wolves finished seventh in the top flight last season after returning to the Premier League for the first time since 2011-12.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men were expected to be competitive after storming to the Championship title, however, no one foresaw that they would earn a place in Europe.
They entered the Europa League in the second qualifying round, playing their first match on July 25, and had three competitive fixtures before the Premier League season even got underway.
Their involvement in the secondary European competition appeared to have a detrimental impact on league performances as they failed to win any of their opening six games.
However, after beating Watford 2-0 on September 28, Wolves’ form has turned a corner and they will return from the international break sitting eighth and unbeaten in six fixtures.
Coady has rubbished claims that they prioritised the Europa League and insists they were always focused on giving their all domestically “Every one of the lads will tell you that we want to be there, we want to impose ourselves, play the way we do and give a good account of ourselves,” Coady said. “Up to now we have been doing that, but it is important that we focus on the Premier League games because this is what we do every week. This is everything to us and we want to make sure we are doing it right.”
The West Midlands outfit will look to further boost their points tally, which currently stands at 16, on Saturday when they return to action against Bournemouth.
Victory at the Vitality Stadium could move them up as high as fifth if results elsewhere also go in their favour.
