Pochettino Sends Warning To Chelsea Particularly Mudryk After Newcastle Win

Mauricio Pochettino has warned Mykhaylo Mudryk that he still needs to improve despite his great goal against Newcastle United. Pochettino also told his Chelsea team that they must build on their victory over the Magpies or face more difficulties.

Following the Blues’ 3-2 triumph at Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea boss lauded the efforts of substitute Mudryk, who scored the game’s winning goal in the 76th minute.

After entering the game as a substitute, the Ukrainian impressed everyone and effectively sealed the victory for Chelsea. The 22-year-old sprinted to claim the ball and deftly sidestepped Martin Dubravka and Fabian Schar to alter the scoreline 3-1.

“It was a very good goal and that is what we expect from a player from the bench – impact,” Pochettino stated as echoed by Daily Express. “Then it is about competing with different players in his position. Then he will deserve to (start).”

The game-changing goal gave Chelsea back control at a critical juncture, something the Blues have recently struggled with.

Pochettino said after: “We need to understand that we are Chelsea. We are in a project that is completely different (to the past). Some people might be confused. When people don’t want to listen, it’s difficult.

“But we are trying to explain we are a different Chelsea, we are building something different. It’s going to be tough.”

Chelsea are set to battle Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in the quarter final of the FA Cup. A win for the Blues will ensure their return to the Wembley Stadium where they lost to Liverpool in the final of the Carabao Cup.
