Pochettino Provides Enzo Injury Update Ahead Of Blackburn

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has indicated that Mykhailo Mudryk is still receiving treatment following the injury that kept him out of the Blues weekend loss to Brentford.

Prior to Chelsea’s Carabao Cup last-16 encounter against Blackburn Rovers, the Ukraine international has been listed on the club’s injury list along with seven other Chelsea players.

Enzo Fernandez, who was also absent from the Bees game over the weekend, isn’t on the list and so does seem to be in the running to return. Muscle issues that were discovered as late as Friday prevented the duo from playing in the Premier League encounter.

Pochettino made the decision to drop the two in order to avoid raising more issues. Still, he didn’t think the concerns were that big.

According to Football London, the Chelsea boss said: “Both Enzo and Misha felt something in training yesterday, small muscle injuries for them both.

“We hoped they would be okay to be in the squad but unfortunately they aren’t quite ready. Neither of them are big issues but we didn’t want to take any risks.”

As he works to regain his full fitness alongside his teammates, Mudryk’s anticipated availability is yet uncertain.

Chelsea are currently languishing in the 11th position on the log, getting back their key players to full fitness is their priority.

With summer signings, Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia yet to make a competitive appearance for the London club, it remains to be seen if their comeback will have positive effects in the team’s performance going forward.
