Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford has admitted he is unsure whether this is the right time for his side to face Manchester City and claimed that you write off the treble winners ‘at your own peril’.
City will play their first match at Goodison Park on Wednesday following their win of Copa Libertadores holders Fluminense 4-0 in Saudi Arabia on Friday to win their fifth major trophy in 2023 after winning the FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup.
Their hopes of becoming the first team to win the English league title for four straight seasons, however, have been fading in recent weeks.
They have only won once in their last six Premier League games, a 2-1 comeback victory against newly promoted Luton Town.
Additionally, they wasted a 2-0 lead against Crystal Palace at home to draw 2-2 last time out. Guaranteeing they will finish outside the top four when they play Sean Dyche’s team.
On the other hand, Everton have won four successive games and kept a clean sheet in the Premier League during December until losing 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, which was their first loss outside of Liverpool since August 20.
What Did Pickford Say About Man City?
According to Liverpool Echo, Pickford said: “Manchester City are a top team. You don’t win five trophies in a year for no reason. They’re well-trained, they’re constantly playing three games in a week. They’re always ready.
“It’s about us being ready, what challenges are they going to come up with for us. And we’ve got to be ready for that. That’s what the manager and staff will do and get us prepared right for it.

“They are champions and they’ve won the lot. And I don’t know if it’s going to be a good or bad time to pay them.
“But we are fully prepared and we have to fully respect them but also take our chances when we have opportunities and get after them.”
