Osimhen fails trails at Belgian side Zulte-Waregem

Victor Osimhen will not be continuing his career at Belgian First Division A team Zulte-Waregem after reportedly failing to impress the club.

Osimhen has failed to establish himself at Wolfsburg, who are now willing to loan him out this season.

His trials at Zulte-Waregem ended on Thursday and Belgian website Hetnieuwsblad has reported he did not do enough to convince the Belgian team to have him on loan.

The publication said Zulte-Waregem have passed on getting the trialist Osimhen on loan bcause he did not do enough.

Part of the reason for the trials was to ensure the 19-year-old striker is fully fit as he has struggled with injuries since he moved to Germany after shinning at the 2015 U17 FIFA World Cup in Chile.

Though there are claims that Wolfsburg could not reach an agreement with Zulte-Waregem on the purchase clause that would have been inserted into the striker’s contract, the fact is the Nigeria national-teamer failed to convince manager Francky Dury at the end of tests which lasted for about one week.

The 19-year-old was top scorer of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup after scoring ten goals in seven matches, which helped the Golden Eaglets win the tournament for the fifth time in their history.

In 2017, Osimhen joined Wolfsburg from Ultimate Strikers Lagos for a transfer fee of three million euros.

In 16 competitive appearances for the German Bundesliga club, he is still searching for his first goal.
