Olympiakos left-back Tsimikas set for Liverpool medical

Olympiakos left-back Kostas Tsimikas is on his way Liverpool for a medical after agreeing a four-year contract with the club.

Multiple outlets in the UK are reporting the two clubs have agreed on a transfer worth £11.75m.

Liverpool turned to the 24-year-old Greek after failing to agree terms with Norwich City over Jamal Lewis.

They were not prepared to meet Norwich’s demand of £20m for Lewis, who was desperate to join the Premier League champions.

Tsimikas is now expected to have a medical this week ahead of agreeing terms with the Premier League champions. Olympiacos are asking for a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the deal.

The Greece international has reportedly signed a contract which will pay him £50,000-per-week.

Tsimikas impressed against Wolves in the Europa League on Thursday and Liverpool’s hierarchy held talks with their Greek counterparts to iron out details after the game.

The 24-year-old has been on Leicester’s list for over a year amid increased interest from Chelsea and Manchester City in Ben Chilwell.

Tsimikas had also drawn enquiries from Tottenham, Everton and Chelsea in recent weeks. Olympiacos have lined up St Etienne’s Miguel Trauco as a replacement.
