Obuh urges Chelsea to give Omeruo a chance like Victor Moses

Former Nigeria youth coach John Obuh has urged Chelsea to give Kenneth Omeruo an opportunity in the first-team and claimed that the prospect could be a revelation for the Blues like Victor Moses.

Moses was sent on several loan spells away from Stamford Bridge before unexpectedly establishing himself as a key player for Chelsea this campaign in an unfamiliar right wing-back position.

Obuh believes that Omeruo, who is currently on loan at Turkish side Alanyaspor, deserves a similar chance to impress at Chelsea.

As reported by Own Goal Nigeria, Obuh said: “All he needs is a chance just like Victor Moses, we all saw how he was sent on several loans but finally got his chance under Antonio Conte, and he is making his mark.

“He [Omeruo] is very good in playing several roles, due to his training as a full back before he finally settled for a central defence role, you also have to know that he is very comfortable as a defensive midfielder.”

Although he is normally deployed as a centre-back, Omeruo is also capable of performing effectively as a defensive-midfielder and has featured prominently for Alanyaspor this campaign.

Omeruo, now aged 23, joined Chelsea in January 2012 but is yet to make a competitive appearance for his parent club and has had loan spells at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Kasimpasa.

A full Nigeria international, Omeruo has won 31 caps for his country.
