N’Golo Kante ‘Pushing Barcelona For Transfer Decision’

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is reportedly still being linked with a move to Barcelona, with the latest report claiming he is determined to sign a pre-contract with the Catalans in January.

The 31-year old’s spell at Stamford Bridge is set to end next June, and he is widely tipped to depart the Blues on a free transfer in quest of greener pastures.

Kante has only made three appearances for Chelsea this season, after suffering a hamstring operation in the middle of October to address a persistent issue.

The Frenchman is unlikely to return to action until February, but his time with the Blues looks to be drawing to a close, with both sides eager to move on next year.

According to Sport, Kante is keen to sign a pre-contract at Barcelona in January, with the midfielder urging the Catalan club to put a deal on the table.

However, according to the report, Barcelona are yet to make an official decision on the seasoned midfielder, which could push him to seek for a new club abroad.

Juventus are also reported to be suitors for Kante, who will allegedly not wait around for Barcelona if it becomes clear that the Catalan side will not be proposing a deal.

Xavi, the club’s head coach, is said to prefer Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as a replacement for Sergio Busquets, although Kante is a cheaper alternative.

Barcelona are still uncertain if Busquets will sign a new contract at Camp Nou, with the former Spain captain considering a transfer to MLS

During his stint at Stamford Bridge, Kante has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
