Mourinho tips Brazil to knock England out of World Cup in quarter-finals

Jose Mourinho has predicted England will be knocked out of the World Cup by Brazil in the quarter-finals.

The Manchester United boss went through his picks for every game in the knockout stages, except the final.

He sees Gareth Southgate’s side overcoming Poland in the last 16, having made it out of the group.

‘Brazil vs England, it’s a big match. It’s not bad for me that my players can go on holiday,’ Mourinho told RT.

With his semi-final line up set the Portuguese was cut short before offering his prediction for the final.

‘Wow, look at this, two South Americans, big rivals, Brazil and Argentina or the European champions against Germany maybe,’ he added when discussing the semi-final line-up.

Mourinho backed Argentina to overcome Spain due to the influence of Lionel Messi and was confident his national side can repeat the trick of beating France as they did in the Euro 2016 final.

He also thought Germany’s European pedigree will see them past Belgium’s golden generation to set up a mouthwatering last four.

The 55-year-old will be working as a pundit for part of the tournament before returning to Carrington for pre-season.

The next campaign is vital for United having finished last term without silverware and well behind rivals Manchester City in the title race.
