Mourinho: Ibrahimovic’s injury has changed Manchester United’s transfer plans

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admits his plans in this summer’s transfer market have changed since Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s devastating knee injury.

The 35-year-old is unlikely to play for the club against after suffering ‘significant’ damage to his knee ligaments during United’s clash with Anderlecht last week.

Though Ibrahimovic hadn’t put pen to paper on a new deal at Old Trafford, Mourinho was banking on him staying for another year at the club.

And the Portuguese boss has admitted his plans in the transfer market will now have to be altered to factor in the Swede’s injury.

‘Yes. Yes,’ said Mourinho, on whether his plans had changed.

‘Because if I don’t have the players for a long period of time, obviously it affects’

With Ibrahimovic’s injury and Wayne Rooney’s expected departure, the Red Devils are likely to need two forwards this summer.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Antoine Griezmann but it could be the likes of Romelu Lukaku or Andrea Belotti that the club will now target alongside the France international.
