Mourinho cheered up by Maradona phone call after Arsenal snatch late point

Diego Maradona raised the spirits of Jose Mourinho after Manchester United drew with Arsenal on Saturday at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils snatched a draw from the jaws of victory allowing the Gunners to equalise in the 89th minute.

Juan Mata had given United the lead before Oliver Giroud came off the bench to salvage a point but Mourinho wasn’t despondent for long when he received a special phone call.

Relaying the moment on his Instagram account the Portuguese tactician wrote: “after a great perfomance but a bad result i had a phone call from king diego..gracias amigo.with you, with my family, with other friends, with my players and with utd amazing supporters…monday i will be ready again!!!”

The result leaves United with just one win from their last six Premier League fixtures and that includes a 4-0 humbling at the hands of Mourinho’s former club Chelsea.

Despite the point Mourinho maintained his unbeaten streak in the league over Arsene Wenger which now stretches to 12 games.

Next up for the Manchester-based club is a home game against West Ham United before travelling to Goodinson Park to face Everton.
