Mount warns Chelsea they’ve won nothing yet after reaching Champions League final

Mason Mount stressed that Chelsea have ‘won nothing yet’ after booking their place in the Champions League final against English rivals Manchester City after a dominant display to beat Real Madrid.

The Blues secured their place in the May 29 showpiece, set to be held in Istanbul, after a 2-0 win – with goals from Timo Werner and Mount late on, with Thomas Tuchel’s side subduing the LaLiga outfit throughout.

Chelsea had several chances to put the game to bed, with Kai Havertz hitting the woodwork and missing another good opportunity, while Werner went close to grabbing his second.

Mount, who thumped home from close range to make it 3-1 on aggregate at Stamford Bridge, was in high spirits after the game and hailed the performance from the team, but insisted the squad cannot afford to get too ahead of themselves.

‘I can’t put into words. Great performance tonight,’ he told BT Sport.

‘It was a tough, tough game. They’re going to come and give it everything but we worked hard. We should’ve probably had about five! But the most important thing is we won tonight. We want to go into every game winning it.’

Mount said the only thing that mattered was getting over the line and securing their place in Istanbul, but urged his team-mates to focus as they prepare for two cup finals – with the FA Cup against Leicester City coming up first.

Chelsea will play City in the Premier League on Saturday in what will be a dress rehearsal for their epic European clash, and Mount is looking forward to locking horns with their English counterparts.

‘We gave everything and we had that desire to win first half,’ he added. ‘We had a couple of opportunities where we won the ball and should’ve scored but we got the one late on and it’s great.

‘We haven’t won nothing yet. Hopefully we’ve got two massive cup finals and hopefully we can win.’

‘We’ve got them on Saturday. We’ve played three times already this season, so it will be a stunning game.’
