Monaco Set To Launch Bid For Arsenal Forward Amid Chelsea Interest

French club, AS Monaco are reportedly set to launch an official bid worth more than £35million to sign Arsenal forward, Folarin Balogun.

Chelsea and Balogun’s advisors have also had sporadic discussions on a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge.

The USA international may be open to moving across London to join the Blues, according to recent rumors.

According to talkSPORT, Monaco are in the forefront in the hunt to lure the 22-year-old away from Arsenal.

Early in the summer, Arsenal placed Balogun at £35 million. But it is now thought that the Gunners are holding out for a deal closer to £50 million.

Arsenal aren’t in haste to cash in on their academy graduate because the youngster still has two years left on his current deal.

They would welcome a lucrative exit after spending more than £200 million this summer.

Balogun is well-known to Monaco because he had a remarkable loan season at Reims in France last season. During which he scored 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.

In fact, in March at Monaco’s Stade Louis-II, he scored the winning goal for Reims.

Arsenal supporters had thought he would get an opportunity under Mikel Arteta. But it appears they have come to the conclusion he is no longer needed.

He continues to rank below Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus in Arteta’s striking pyramid and doesn’t seem to be in the manager’s current thoughts.

Balogun has appeared for Arsenal in ten competitive games in all, scoring twice.

He scored both of the goals against Molde and Dundalk in the Europa League during the 2020–21 campaign.
