Mohammed Kudus Set To Leave Ajax After Rejecting Contract Offer

Mohammed Kudus has reportedly rejected a one-year contract offer from Ajax as he wants to leave the club for a Premier League team before the start of next season.

The 22-year-old told the Dutch strongholds he wants to leave when the transfer market opens in June after rejecting a contract extension in April.

A number of Premier League clubs are interested in the attacking midfielder after he scored 22 goals in 48 games for his club and his country, Ghana.

According to the Athletic, the Ghanaian, who has a deal at the Johan Cruyff Arena through 2025, is reportedly being monitored by Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.

It was rumored in March that former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag intends to prise Kudus away from his former club and bring him to Manchester United. Just as he had done with Lisandro Martinez and Antony recently.

Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming season as they have the UEFA Champions League to compete in. Newcastle United are in a similar situation and also intend to contend for the Premier League crown next season.

If their contracts cannot be renewed, Ajax have a history of offloading their important squad players early. It is said that the Amsterdam-based club will demand £40 million for the player they acquired from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland in July 2020.

Prior to Ajax blocking the move, Kudus came very close to signing for Everton last summer, and even went on strike to try and force his way to Goodison Park.
