Marseille ready to ‘offer up to £20 million for Giroud’

Marseille are reportedly willing to offer up to £20 million in their attempt to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer.

Giroud has scored 13 times this season in all competitions but there remain concerns amongst Gunners supporters regarding the Frenchman’s lack of consistency.

The 30-year-old signed a new contract with Arsenal earlier this season that is set to run until the summer of 2019 and remains a key part of Arsene Wenger’s plans, but it remains to be seen whether the club would be tempted to sell him should a sufficient offer be made.

Marseille are determined to sign Giroud, as reported by Sky Sports, and are desperate to revitalise their striking options, with several of their current forwards – Bafetimbi Gomis, Clinton N’Jie and Aaron Leya Iseka – only at the club on loan.

If Marseille did sign Giroud then he would certainly be an upgrade on Gomis and N’Jie, with the Arsenal player having scored more goals per game, provided more assists and won more duels than the Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur loanees.
